Description

Satisfying and flavorful sausage stuffed shells filled with ricotta and mozzarella, baked in marinara sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned; drain excess fat.
  4. In a bowl, mix the cooked sausage, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Stuff each cooked shell with the sausage and cheese mixture.
  6. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Arrange the stuffed shells in the baking dish and cover with the remaining marinara sauce.
  8. Sprinkle the top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

To add extra flavor, sprinkle some additional Parmesan cheese on top before serving.
