- 1 lb hot dogs
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (beaten)
- Coarse sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and brown sugar together. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
- Take each hot dog and roll it in a strip of dough, sealing the ends well.
- Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil. Carefully boil each wrapped hot dog for about 30 seconds, then transfer them to the baking sheet.
- Brush each pretzel dog with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Serve with mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce. They pair well with a crisp salad or potato wedges.
