Description

A delightful homemade cranberry sauce that adds vibrant color and a sweet-tart flavor to any holiday meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems.
  2. Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Add the cranberries to the saucepan. Return to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the cranberries pop and the sauce thickens.
  4. If desired, stir in orange zest and cinnamon.
  5. Remove from heat and allow to cool. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
