- 1 block firm tofu
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Press the tofu. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel, place it on a plate, and weigh it down for about 10 minutes. Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- Toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until they are evenly coated.
- Add vegetable oil to a skillet and heat over medium heat.
- Carefully add the coated tofu to the hot skillet and fry undisturbed for about 3-4 minutes, then turn to crisp all sides for 10-12 minutes.
- Whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and grated ginger in a separate bowl.
- Pour the sauce over the tofu in the skillet and gently stir to coat.
- Let the tofu and sauce simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to thicken.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the tofu and serve hot.
Notes
Press tofu well to remove moisture for optimal crispiness. Use high-quality soy sauce for better flavor.
