Description

A beloved classic in Italian cuisine, this Tiramisu features coffee-soaked ladyfingers layered with rich mascarpone cream.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups strong coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Add the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Combine the cooled egg mixture with mascarpone cheese, mixing until velvety smooth.
  3. Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Combine the strong coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and arrange them in a layer at the bottom of your serving dish.
  5. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the dipped ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  6. Repeat the layers with remaining dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  7. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight for better flavor.
  8. Dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

Best to store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days covered.
