A beloved classic in Italian cuisine, this Tiramisu features coffee-soaked ladyfingers layered with rich mascarpone cream.

- 6 egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups strong coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Add the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Combine the cooled egg mixture with mascarpone cheese, mixing until velvety smooth.
- Whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture.
- Combine the strong coffee and coffee liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and arrange them in a layer at the bottom of your serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the dipped ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Repeat the layers with remaining dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
- Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight for better flavor.
- Dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings before serving.

Best to store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days covered.
