- 500g chicken (cut into pieces)
- 2 medium onions (finely sliced)
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 inch piece ginger (grated)
- 2–3 green chilies (slit)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2–3 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté until fragrant.
- Introduce chicken pieces and cook until they start to brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and slit green chilies. Cook until tomatoes soften.
- Mix in coriander powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt. Stir well.
- Cover and let it cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
- Uncover and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes to evaporate excess moisture.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
Notes
Pair with basmati rice or naan bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
