Description

A delightful blend of ripe tomatoes and spices, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or as a condiment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ripe tomatoes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and chop them, removing any stems or cores.
  2. In a large pot, combine the chopped tomatoes, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and salt.
  3. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it starts to boil.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer, stirring often for 1 to 2 hours until it thickens.
  5. Stir in the spices and let it continue simmering for another 10 minutes.
  6. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and seal them.
  7. Let your tomato jam cool, then store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

For less sweetness, reduce the sugar by half a cup. Use ripe tomatoes for the best flavor.
