- 1 cup sourdough starter (discard)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups diced apples
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- Combine the sourdough starter, sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples and nuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best flavor, make sure your sourdough starter is bubbly and active. You can also experiment with different spices or add-ins.
