- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons hot chicken spice mix
- Buns for serving
- Pickles for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken in a bowl with buttermilk and hot sauce, covering and letting sit for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Prepare the coating by mixing flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
- Fry the marinated chicken in vegetable oil in a skillet until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Transfer the fried chicken to a slow cooker and pour any remaining marinade over it.
- Cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the chicken is tender.
- Add hot chicken spice with oil for extra heat over the cooked chicken.
- Serve on buns with pickles for a delightful meal.
Notes
For extra crispiness, rest fried chicken on a wire rack before slow cooking. Adjust spice levels as desired.
