Description

This delicious Slow Cooker Nashville Hot Chicken combines spicy buttermilk marinated chicken with a crispy coating for an unforgettable flavor.


Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons hot chicken spice mix
  • Buns for serving
  • Pickles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in a bowl with buttermilk and hot sauce, covering and letting sit for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  2. Prepare the coating by mixing flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
  3. Fry the marinated chicken in vegetable oil in a skillet until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Transfer the fried chicken to a slow cooker and pour any remaining marinade over it.
  5. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the chicken is tender.
  6. Add hot chicken spice with oil for extra heat over the cooked chicken.
  7. Serve on buns with pickles for a delightful meal.
