- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
- Form the dough: Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour, and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Shape the loaf: Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Second rise: Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake to perfection: Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool down: Let cool before slicing.
Notes
Store any leftover bread in an airtight bag at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer shelf life, slice and freeze the bread.
