Description

Wholesome and delicious honey wheat bread that is easy to make and perfect for sandwiches or toast.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
  3. Form the dough: Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour, and stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  5. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Shape the loaf: Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Second rise: Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake to perfection: Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool down: Let cool before slicing.

Notes

Store any leftover bread in an airtight bag at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer shelf life, slice and freeze the bread.
