Description

A comforting dish featuring juicy meatballs served over creamy garlic herb mashed potatoes, drizzled with savory gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (parsley and thyme), chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, careful not to overwork the meat. Gently form the mixture into meatballs, about the size of golf balls.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the meatballs in the skillet, making sure they aren’t crowded. Cook until browned on all sides, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. Once browned, carefully add the beef broth to the skillet. Cover and let simmer for 15 minutes. If you’d like to thicken the gravy, mix cornstarch with a little water, and stir it into the skillet right before serving.
  4. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the peeled and cubed potatoes, cooking until tender, about 15 minutes.
  5. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. To the warm potatoes, add butter, milk, minced garlic, and fresh herbs. Mash until smooth, adding more milk if necessary for desired creaminess.
  6. Serve the hearty meatballs over a generous scoop of garlic herb mashed potatoes, and spoon some of that savory gravy right on top.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding grated parmesan cheese to the mashed potatoes.
