Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Drop balls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes, or until set at the edges but soft in the center. Cool on a wire rack.
  8. For the frosting, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
  9. Frost cooled cookies generously with cream cheese frosting and enjoy!
