Description

A deliciously warm family favorite, these oven-baked cabbage burgers combine crispy cabbage with a savory meat filling for a unique twist on traditional burgers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey, or plant-based alternative)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Optional toppings: cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the cabbage by boiling it in salted water for about 5 minutes until the leaves become pliable.
  3. Mix the ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Assemble the cabbage burgers by filling each leaf with the meat mixture and folding them over.
  5. Add olive oil to the tops of the cabbage burgers.
  6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the meat is cooked through.
  7. Serve warm with your choice of toppings.

Notes

Ensure cabbage leaves are soft before filling; consider adding shredded carrots or mushrooms for variety.
