Description

Delight in these warm, cheesy pretzels that combine the flavors of fresh rosemary and savory Parmesan, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the dough: Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead for about 5 minutes, then cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Prepare the oven: Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  5. Shape the pretzels: Divide dough into pieces, flatten each piece, and place a mozzarella piece in the center.
  6. Seal and shape: Fold dough around cheese, shaping into a ball.
  7. Boil the pretzels: Boil water in a large pot, adding baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then transfer to a baking sheet.
  8. Egg wash & seasoning: Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sea salt, Parmesan, and rosemary.
  9. Bake to perfection: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm!

Notes

These pretzels are best enjoyed fresh with marinara sauce or mustard for dipping. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
