Description
A delightful Thai dessert featuring sticky rice topped with fresh mango and a creamy coconut sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 ripe mangoes, sliced
- Sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak it in water for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Drain the rice and place it in a steamer. Steam for about 20-25 minutes until it’s tender.
- In a saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves but do not boil.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about 1 cup of the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir well and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
- To serve, place a portion of sticky rice on a plate, add sliced mango on the side, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk. Garnish with sesame seeds or mung beans if desired.
Notes
Soaking the rice overnight improves texture. Adjust sugar in coconut milk according to your taste. Ensure mangoes are ripe for the best flavor.
