Description

A whimsical twist on classic chocolate chip cookies with floral notes of lavender.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over low heat. Add the dried lavender buds and warm gently for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and the cooled lavender-infused butter.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until everything is combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Use a cookie scoop to form dough balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days or freeze for up to 3 months.
