- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
- Spread the ricotta cheese over the batter evenly.
- Add cocoa powder to the remaining batter and mix well, then pour over the ricotta layer.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
This cake pairs beautifully with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container, and it can be refrigerated for up to a week.
