- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant coffee
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Warm the milk and butter in a small saucepan over low heat until melted and warm (not boiling).
- Combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients, adding the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into rounds.
- Let the donut rounds rest for another 30 minutes to puff up.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot over medium heat and fry the donuts in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the fried donuts and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
- Whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and instant coffee until stiff peaks form.
- Fill each donut generously with the coffee cream using a pastry bag.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve!
