Description

A delicious take on the classic Mediterranean gyros, featuring juicy spiced meat, fresh vegetables, and creamy tzatziki sauce wrapped in warm pita bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Pita bread
  • Lettuce, sliced
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Cucumber, sliced
  • Tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together ground meat, onion, garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into patties or logs.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat and cook the meat until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  4. While the meat cooks, warm your pita bread on the grill or in a skillet for a minute or so until warm and pliable.
  5. To serve, place the cooked meat in a warm pita with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a drizzle of tzatziki sauce.

Notes

For the best flavor, use quality herbs and fresh produce.
