Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy — about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract and egg to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until everything is combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips until they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once chilled, shape the dough into heart shapes using your hands or a cookie cutter.
- Place the heart-shaped cookies onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes or until the edges are golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
