Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Form the mixture into egg shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
- Melt the chocolate chips and shortening (if using) in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.
- Dip each peanut butter egg into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated.
- Return dipped eggs to the parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate until chocolate is set, about 30 minutes.
