Description

A comforting twist on classic mac and cheese with the addition of broccoli for added nutrition and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, adding the broccoli during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  3. Whisk the milk into the roux gradually, stirring until the mixture thickens to a smooth consistency.
  4. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until fully melted and combined.
  5. Pour the cheese sauce over the cooked macaroni and broccoli, mixing well to coat every piece.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy with family and friends.

Notes

For a crunchy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and bake until golden brown. You can also experiment with different cheeses or add extras like bacon or mushrooms.
