Description

A modern take on the classic Cannoli, these squares feature layers of phyllo pastry with a rich ricotta and mascarpone filling, making them easy to prepare and delightful in flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 package of phyllo pastry sheets
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in mini chocolate chips.
  3. Lay out the phyllo sheets on a clean surface and brush each sheet with melted butter. Stack 3-4 sheets together.
  4. Carefully cut the stacked phyllo into squares and fit them into a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour the creamy cheese mixture into the phyllo squares, smoothing it out.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Let the squares cool completely. Dust with cocoa powder and sprinkle on chopped pistachios.
  8. Slice into squares and serve.
