Description

Delicious and flaky Chocolate Chip Scones, perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips gently, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until combined.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  7. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it just a few times to bring it together.
  8. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut it into wedges or use a round cutter for individual scones.
  9. Place the shaped scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let the scones cool slightly before serving, allowing the flavors to settle and the chocolate to slightly harden.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to a month.
