Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup baking soda
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt (for topping)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.
- Divide the dough into small pieces and shape into bites.
- Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Drizzle with melted butter before serving.
Notes
Serve with mustard, cheese dip, or honey mustard sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
