Description

Delicious, chewy, buttery soft pretzel bites, perfect for snacks or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt (for topping)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt; mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces and shape into bites.
  7. Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Drizzle with melted butter before serving.

Notes

Serve with mustard, cheese dip, or honey mustard sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
