Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples and any nuts you wish to include.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan before serving.
Notes
For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature. Experiment with spices for variations.
